Young Engineers Summer Holiday Camps

A Young Engineers Holiday Camp provides children with a fun and exciting way to explore science and engineering during their holidays.

Our Bricks Challenge sessions mix building of  complex machines using LEGO with time outside and playing games all with the aim of  learning about scientific and engineering principles.
Our Big Builders sessions for younger children use a variety of different materials depending on our theme for the day. We mix KNEX, Blox, Gears and LEGO..

In 2019 we are running camps for children aged 3 to 5 and a second group for ages 6 to 9

Big Builders Camps for Ages 3 to 5

We are offering 3 weeks of Big Builders Camps in 2019.

These camps are for children aged 3 to 5. Sessions are relaxed. We start each day with a story that introduces our theme and provides plenty of opportunities for children to talk about their understanding of the topic and share their experiences. We then move on to experiments and investigations. Children will work in small groups of 4 or 5 with a staff member supporting them. Experiments are practical and help children explore the STEM topic through play. Each day includes a building session using a variety of materials from K’NEX, LEGO Blocks, Gears and so on. Finally we include an art project that allows the children to take home a souvenir

The themes for this year will be:

  • Monday: Castles & Forts – Learn about shapes and stable structures
  • Tuesday: Under the sea – We will be divers investigating the oceans
  • Wednesday: The World – All about maps and travelling
  • Thursday: Our bodies – Learn about our bones & muscles, heart & lungs
  • Friday: Dinosaurs – Learn about the life of dinosaurs and why they disappeared
